Emmerdale: Katie Macey’s life to hang in the balance when she falls down a mineshaft!

by Lynn Connolly

There’s major drama in store for Emmerdale fans as we’re to be left wondering if newlywed Katie Macey (Sammy Winward) lives or dies when she falls down a mineshaft!

Katie, who of course returned to Home Farm last night with her new husband Declan (Jason Merrells) will face the life and death trauma when, having been driving on the estate on a quad bike, Katie takes a tumble for the all-terrain vehicle and disappears into the abandoned shaft.

However, before that happens, Katie’s got a lot to contend with, including rows between her husband and his sister Megan (Gaynor Faye) then another row between herself and best mate Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams) when an outraged Katie finds out that Gennie knew about Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Cameron Murray’s (Dominic Power) affair…

And as if that wasn’t bad enough for the new mistress of Home Farm, she and Declan will have a fierce argument when he realizes that Katie set up his nephew Robbie (Jamie Shelton) to make it seem as though he’d attacked her…

Fans may recall that Katie ensured that newly installed CCTV cameras captured the moment that she lured Robbie to the stables where she gave him the “come on” before doing an about turn, prompting him to angrily grab at her.

When Declan saw the footage, which was Katie’s plan all along, he was understandably livid with his nephew, and it was that incident that set into motion the chain of events that now sees Robbie, Megan and Declan at war with each other.

However, to return to Katie’s fall, Sammy Winward recently teased that it was one of her biggest storylines to date, and the show’s bosses have promised to reveal more about the plot in coming days.

We’ll see the shocking accident on Thursday, November 22 at 7pm on ITV1, but in the meantime, here’s a clip from tonight’s show which sees Katie and Gennie at loggerheads…
