Emmerdale: Laurel and Marlon will move in together and be “a family unit”

Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy, who of course plays Laurel Thomas, has revealed to Inside Soap magazine that although her character and lover Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) will soon be living together as “a family unit” their romance isn’t going to all plain sailing.

And of course, as it’s soap, we wouldn’t expect anything other!

Fans will of course know that Laurel is in the process of divorcing former vicar Ashley (John Middleton) and though she and Marlon are keeping the fact that they are now an item a secret for now, once Laurel has broken the news to Ashley, they will go public and be together openly.

However, Charlotte began by saying that having worked with John Middleton so closely during the time Ashley and Laurel were together – they wed in 2005 – to now be filming next to no scenes with him has been quite an adjustment…

She said, “It’s very weird – I don’t see [John] much now after we’d worked so intensely together.

“It’s as if your own relationship changes, but that’s the world of soap.”

And of Laurel telling Ashley that she’s rekindled her romance with Marlon, Charlotte said, “It’s going to be awful to see Laurel tell Ashley that she’s with Marlon – though it doesn’t happen as you might expect it would.”

Charlotte also hinted that there are troubles ahead for her character with her step-daughter Gabby once Marlon moves in with Laurel.

She said, “Laurel’s set to move in with Marlon, and they’ll have their own family unit.

“I don’t know if they’ll get married or have a baby, but it’s a big change in Laurel’s life and my journey in the show.

“However, I don’t think it’s going to be plain sailing with little Gabby.”

Are you glad Laurel and Marlon are finally together?
