Emmerdale: Lucy Pargeter says Chas Dingle is “terrified” of what’ll happen when Carl King says he’s in love with her!

by Lynn Connolly

Emmerdale resident Chas Dingle is, at present, the living embodiment of Sir Walter Scott’s line ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive!’

Because she is of course set to marry Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) even though she’s still in love with Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) and is currently being blackmailed by former fiancé Carl King to the tune of £30,000.

However, while speaking to Inside Soap magazine about the plotline, Lucy Pargeter, who plays pub landlady Chas, has revealed that things are to get yet more complex as Carl (Tom Lister) tells Chas that he’s actually still in love with her!

As fans will recall, Carl and Chas were supposed to get married on Christmas Day in 2010, however, for weeks before the big day, Chas had been plotting to ditch Carl at the altar after she found out he’d been sleeping with Eve Jensen…

And by way of revenge, Chas kept the £30k that Carl had given her to spend on the wedding for herself, which is actually how she bought her share in the Woolpack.

So, back to what Lucy said to Inside Soap, and she revealed, “Carl admits he still loves her and wants to be back with her.

“And I think that, deep down, Chas knows she has feelings for him too. There’s still a lot of chemistry between them.

“She’s terrified of what may happen. Carl is becoming more intense and involved in her life again.

“He’s getting obsessed with her.”

Lucy went on to say that she has no idea what the future holds for her Chas, but doesn’t expect it to be happy!

She said, “I have no idea how Chas will manage to get herself out of this nightmare. I reckon it can only end in tears.”

Chas is set to marry Dan during the show’s hour-long live broadcast in October, but will she actually go through with it?

We’ll have to wait and see, but for now, here’s a reminder of the dramatic scenes when Chas dumped Carl on their wedding day…
