Emmerdale: OMG! Chas Dingle is going to propose to Dan Spencer, and he says ‘Yes!’
We saw in last night’s visit to Emmerdale that Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) impressed Woolpack landlady Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) when he stood up to Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) and told him to apologise for his rudeness to Chas…
Dan has of course fancied – and had a crush on – Chas for weeks, but hasn’t dared hope that the feeling might be mutual, but surprisingly, his knight in shining armour routine has ignited a wee flame in Chas’s heart that’s set prompt her to propose to him!
As we heard Chas telling Moira (Natalie J Robb) last night – before Dan leapt to her defence during her harsh words with Cameron – she just wants a stable man in her life.
And though of course Moira has no idea that Chas recently had an affair with Cameron, or that he broke Chas’ heart when he chose to stay with Debbie (Charley Webb) her sage advice of “then go and get what you want” struck a chord…
It’s this that prompt Chas to make the out of the blue proposal to Dan, but initially, thinking she must be joking, Dan tells her he’ll only accept if she tells him she loves him…
But of course, she doesn’t, so when she can’t say the words, a despondent Dan tells her that there’s no way he could marry someone who didn’t love him.
However, the next day, having spent yet another lonely night in a cold bed, Chas tells Dan that she was wrong and that she DOES love him, so he delightedly accepts her renewed offer and the pair become engaged.
The news sends shockwaves through the villagers, and most especially Cameron, but can Chas really marry a man she doesn’t love just to have ‘stability’ and the security of his worship of her?
Find out when Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, August 23 and Friday, August 24 on ITV1.
