The following article contains spoilers about episodes of Emmerdale that will air as of January 28th, including Cameron Murray’s return to the village and his shock marriage proposal to Chas Dingle!
So if you don’t want to know what her answer will be, don’t read on!
If you do want to know, then let’s go…
As fans of Emmerdale will know, after struggling to cope with the guilt of having murdered farmhand Alex Moss (Kurtis Stacey) Cameron Murray left the village to visit his kids in Jersey, and though he begged Chas Dingle to go with him, she refused having decided that she couldn’t leave Bernice (Samantha Giles) in charge of the pub.
However, in next week’s episodes, Cameron is going to return to the village, but initially, he gets a hostile reception from Chas who’s furious with him for the fact that he hasn’t contacted her once since he went away…
And as we’ll also see next week before Cameron returns, Chas’s love rival Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) will take great pleasure in taunting Chas (Lucy Pargeter) over her boyfriend’s prolonged absence, and will add that she doesn’t believe he has any intention of coming back.
Debbie’s remarks are going to hit a raw nerve with Chas, because secretly, she thinks that it is in fact true; Cameron’s not coming home. But Chas’s misery will be compounded when yet again, she comes under attack when a stone comes hurtling through the window of the pub!
She, and everyone else, will assume that Carl’s son Thomas is responsible, but it will transpire that it wasn’t him this time…
However, by the time Cameron does resurface – having first gone to the woods where he buried Alex to check his grave has been undisturbed – a defeated Chas has made up her mind to sell her half of the pub to Bernice and to leave the village for good.
But Cameron will tell her that they shouldn’t be seen to be cowed by the gossips and troublemakers, and they certainly shouldn’t be driven out of their homes by them.
At first, Chas doesn’t want to hear it and she’ll tell Cameron that with or without him, she’s going. That is until Bernice makes one snide remark too many, and Chas changes her mind, telling Bernice that the deal’s off.
And, pleased with Chas’s decision, Cameron will go down on one knee and propose to her! However, Chas will tell him that she needs time to think about it, but, in the episode that will air on February 1st, she’ll say ‘Yes’ to him.
As you might expect, that news goes down like a lead balloon with Debbie and her dad Cain (Jeff Hordley).
Watch this space to find out how that’s going to pan out! For now, here’s a sneak peek look at one of this week’s episodes…
