Fans of Emmerdale will know that ever since Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) returned to the village after her stint in prison, David Metcalfe has – finally – realised that he does in fact have feelings for her…
The pair of course arranged a sham marriage last year so that David (Matthew Wolfenden) could retain custody of Alicia’s son Jacob during her incarceration.
However, by the time Alicia got out of prison at Christmas, David was of course in a relationship with Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) to whom he’s now engaged!
And just to add insult to injury to Alicia – who’s still in love with David and in fact was at the time they wed – she’s now been tasked with planning David and Priya’s wedding day, given that she’s the events manager at Home Farm.
But as we reported last week, during a photo shoot for a glossy brochure advertising the wedding services on the estate, Priya had to pull out of the photographs after she developed a rash, so Alicia stood in and played the role of David’s bride…
Later, Priya pleaded with David to get Alicia to ditch the brochure, but of course, it wasn’t up to her and her boss Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) point blank refused to do any such thing.
And in fact, as we’ll see in the episode that airs on Wednesday, 27 March, Megan’s requested more pictures of Alicia for the brochure, and it’s while she nervously prepares for the shoot that David realises he really is in love with her.
His dad Eric (Chris Chittell) suspects the truth, but when he challenges his son – as Alicia is about to go on a date with her new bloke Lee – David denies it, but Eric is not convinced.
However, in the episode that airs on Thursday 28 March, David’s forced to continue the denial when he learns that Alicia doesn’t have a babysitter for her date with Lee, and so volunteers himself for the job, going green with envy as Alicia sets off.
Find out next week if David plucks up the courage to admit he’s in love with Alicia, but for now, here’s a look at the next episode of Emmerdale…
