Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy has revealed that if her partner had an “emotional affair” she wouldn’t be able to forgive and forget…

And given that on the day of Laurel and Ashley’s vow renewal, Ashley goes AWOL, it could be that he can’t forgive either!

As fans will know, Laurel – who’s played by Charlotte – has been having a platonic dalliance with chef Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) since the summer, and a few weeks ago, her vicar husband Ashley (John Middleton) found out about it.

Since then, Laurel’s been trying hard to assure Ashley that it’s him she loves and wants to be with, but she can’t deny that she does have feelings for Marlon, even though the couple have shared nothing more physical than a kiss…

But as the day of their wedding vow renewal looms, Ashley is beginning to wonder if he can make the vows in view of the fact that he’s struggling to come to terms with Laurel’s betrayal.

Speaking to The People about the plotline, Charlotte – who’s also starred in A Touch of Frost and who had a brief stint on EastEnders as Sue Taylor – said that if her partner, Mungo Dennison, similarly betrayed her, she wouldn’t forgive him.

Mum of three Charlotte, said, “It would be the most treacherous, disloyal and heartbreaking thing in the world…

“A one-night stand could be put down to being very drunk and would be easier to cope with. Falling in love is completely different.

“I’d feel the same way too. For any couple it would be extremely damaging.

“How do you get back on track after something like that?

“Can you rebuild a relationship if one of you is in love with someone else?”

Well, I have to say, I agree with Charlotte. I too think a one night stand would be easier to get over as a couple than having one half of that couple in love with someone else.
