Emmerdale star Chris Bisson took to Twitter yesterday to announce that this partner Rowena Finn had given birth to their first baby, a healthy boy who the couple have named Harry.

Chris tweeted, “It’s a boy! Row and I are delighted to announce the birth of our little bundle of joy.

“Harry weighted in at 6lb 7oz and mum is doing great.”

Messages of congratulations poured in from friends and fans, however Chris has completely understandably been too busy enjoying spending time with his son to post to Twitter since, but of course, his Emmerdale character Jai Sharma isn’t similarly able to enjoy being a dad for the first time…

As viewers will know, Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten) gave birth to Jai’s son Archie at Christmas, but as the little boy was born prematurely, he was gravely ill for several days.

However, Archie’s condition is improving all the time, and in forthcoming episodes, we’ll see his delighted mum bringing her baby home to the village, but of course, as Jai hasn’t yet told his wife Charity that he’s Archie’s dad – and nobody else in the village knows except Jai’s dad Rishi (Bhasker Patel) – so he can only visit the baby if Rachel permits it and if there’s nobody around who could spot him visiting and become suspicious.

But it seems that Jai’s secret could soon be out, because in a recent interview with ITV, Emma Atkins, who of course plays Charity, revealed that she fully expects her feisty alter ego to get to the bottom of what’s been troubling her husband.

She said, “For Charity, for the first time in her life, she is quite bewildered by her partner’s behaviour.

“She does not have a clue why he is behaving the way he is. That’s brilliant for the audience, because they all know what’s going on.

“Of course he is father to Rachel’s baby, and Charity is none the wiser. For someone who’s supposed to be so clued up, she doesn’t have a clue!

“She’s rubbish – which is good to play, actually, because it shows a more vulnerable side to Charity.

“She doesn’t know where she stands with Jai anymore. Jai is being so secretive and aloof, and it’s horrible in any relationship to be experiencing that sense of detachment from someone that you really care about.”

However, she concluded, “By hook or by crook, she will find out what is the secret…

“She’s got to find out! We’ll see.”

How do you think Charity’s going to react when she finds out the truth? For now, here’s a reminder of how this storyline began…
