Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt loves on-screen rows between Paddy and Marlon!

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Marlon Dingle is about to break the news to his – probably former – BFF Paddy Kirk and his former girlfriend Rhona Goskirk that he has taken out a court order to prevent them from taking his son Leo out of the country.

And of course, the news is going to devastated Paddy and Rhona (Zoe Henry) who have a new life ready and waiting for them in New Zealand.

Their plan had been to go in September, and in order to go out there as man and wife, the couple are set to wed this week, and it’s at the wedding reception that Marlon (Mark Charnock) drops his bombshell.

Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy, has previously revealed that there’s no way his character and Rhona would leave without Leo, so a dramatic tug of love is set to ensue, and inevitably, bitter rows between Paddy and Marlon will play out…

However, while speaking to What’s On TV magazine about the plotline, Dominic revealed that he relishes the chance to show the usually mild mannered, easy going Paddy, in another light.

And while explaining that he loves on-screen rows, he added, “I think it’s a release when you’re bawling at someone.

“I don’t behave like that at home so it’s nice to be able to do it at work.

“It’s all very well messing about and working out little comedy bits with each other, but there’s nothing like being visceral and screaming in each others faces.

“I’ve loved it personally!”

But it seems that Dominic reckons Paddy and Marlon’s friendship is so close, that even this nightmare situation won’t see them at each other’s throats for long.

He said, “It’s drama and it will come back round – it makes it more interesting and they’ll come back stronger.

“It’s great that they have to get through this. I think friendships should be tested like this and they should be thrown at the wall and they should see how dark they can make it.

“I think it’s amazing and I’m really happy that it’s happening, because it’s incredible that dramatically we’re being tested with this incredible storyline.

“But I’m sure it will come back round. They do love each other. You can tell by the way they’re devastated with each other.”

We’ll see Marlon telling Rhona and Paddy about the court order in the episodes that air on Thursday.
