Emmerdale star Dominic Power says fans like Cameron being “a cheat and a bit of a bad boy”

Dominic Power – who is A Grade hot – has revealed that fans of Emmerdale like his character Cameron Murray being “a cheat and a bit of a bad boy.”

Which, he says, has taken him by surprise somewhat, given that he expected a negative backlash over Cameron’s affair with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).

Speaking to the PA about viewers’ reaction to the plotline, Dominic said, “I think some people see him as a heartless cheat, some people see his predicament and have that memory of what caused this.

“It’s very easy to forget how the baby was conceived with Andy and all that he had been putting up with.

“But even those who think he’s a bit of a cheat aren’t necessarily unhappy about that…

“There’s been a lot of positive feed back about him being a cheat and a bit of a bad boy.”

Cameron of course arrived in the village last year, having tracked Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) down after having an affair with her in Jersey, where his former wife and kids still live.

Debbie was initially resistant to having a relationship with Cameron, because she felt guilty about breaking up his family, however, she got over that and the pair began living together shortly before Debbie’s daughter Sarah was diagnosed with Fanconi Anaemia.

And of course, as Dominic pointed out, it was Debbie’s efforts to get pregnant by Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) again so as to use the new baby’s bone marrow to save Sarah’s life that saw Cameron and Debbie struggling to keep their relationship going.

And it was that that caused Cameron to turn to the arms – and other body parts – of Chas.

The storyline of course continues this week with Cameron and Chas going off for a dirty weekend together, but even that is fraught with problems…
