Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter says “things have really changed” among younger cast members
Lucy Pargeter has of course played the role of Chastity Dingle in Emmerdale since 2002 – she formerly starred in Crossroads as Helen Raven – and in that time, she’s seen many of the show’s cast members grow up and start families of their own.
And in an interview with Inside Soap magazine, Lucy revealed that where once her younger co-stars were all about clubbing and nights out, talk tends to now revolve around potty training and teething problems.
Lucy, who has a six year old daughter called Lola, said of her off-set relationship with some of her co-stars, “We go for dinner, drinks and some girly fun [but] when I first started here, it was all about where we’d gone out partying at the weekend and who we’d met.
”These days, it’s what the kids are up to and how the DIY is going at home…
“Things have really changed! Being in the Woolpack I get to see most of the actors on a regular basis for a little catch-up…
“It’s always a good chance to have a proper chat and a giggle.”
Lucy was perhaps referring particularly to co-stars Charley Webb and Sammy Winward – who play the roles of Debbie
Dingle and Katie Sugden respectively – given that Charley was 14 years old when she joined the soap in 2002 and Sammy was 16 when she joined in 2001.
Both Sammy and Charley are now mothers; Sammy has a daughter called Mia, and Charley has a son, Buster, with co-star Matthew Wolfenden, who of course plays David Metcalfe.
And apropos of David, don’t miss the drama surrounding his sham wedding to Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) in this week’s episodes.
