Emmerdale star Matt Milburn – who plays dishy locum vet Nicky – has been telling Soaplife all about the forthcoming Dales love triangle between his character and Gennie Dingle, along with Nikhil Sharma.

As viewers will know, Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has had a crush on her boss Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) for months, but he’s consistently rejected her…

Until next week that is when he finally realizes he fancies her! But unluckily for him, so does Nicky.

Of his character’s attraction to Gennie, Matt said, “Most of his former girlfriends have been stereotypical bimbo types.

“But Gennie’s different. She’s engaging, funny and quirky, but also very straight and honest with it…

“She’s a bit awkward and very shy. This is very endearing to Nicky. He thinks she’s very cute and she really floats his boat.”

And when asked if Nicky realizes that Gennie’s in love with Nikhil, Matt said, “No! He just thinks she’s head-over-heels about him!”

However, when Nicky asks Gennie out on a date, things start looking up for him.

Matt said, “Gennie turns up looking fabulous and Nicky suggests they go for a drink away from the village.

“We don’t see it on-screen, but it’s obvious they have a good time. Later they kiss and Nikhil is watching from a distance.

“Nicky’s part of a kind of love triangle he has no idea about!”

And finally, when asked, “Could Nicky and Nikhil end up fighting for Gennie’s love?” Matt replied, “Duelling over the damsel! Possibly, but it would depend more on how Gennie feels and how it all pans out.”
