Emmerdale star Sammy Winward says her daughter sticks up for her when Megan’s being mean to Katie!

As fans of Emmerdale star Sammy Winward may know, she has a seven year old daughter called Mia, and during an interview with the Daily Mirror, Sammy’s revealed that little Mia is very protective of her mummy!

So much so that when Mia watches her mum’s character Katie Sugden being yelled at by Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) on the show, little Mia isn’t prepared to let it go…

Sammy explained, “She hates the fact that Megan is horrible to me on the show.

“The other day, she picked up the phone to Gaynor Faye, who plays Megan, and told her, ‘If you’re mean to Mum again, I’ll have your guts for garters’.”

Sammy also revealed that Katie’s romantic liaisons in the sopa often confuse Mia. She said, “She’s finally started watching the show and she was asking who are these people I keep kissing…

“Because let’s face it, Katie’s had her fair share of men.

“Mia still gets confused about what’s real and she was very mixed up when she heard I was getting married.”

Katie is of course set to marry her fiancé Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) in a double-wedding alongside Chas Dingle and Dan Spencer – who’re played by Lucy Pargeter and Liam Fox – during the show’s forthcoming live episode.

And of that, Sammy confessed that she’s “scared to death” of getting anything wrong during the live broadcast. She says she particularly worried that she might get an uncontrollable fit of the giggles.

She said, “My biggest fear is corpsing – just starting to laugh and not being able to stop.

“It happens all the time when we’re filming!

“It’s such a massive thing, such a responsibility that I’m terrified something will go wrong in front of millions of people, and it will be my fault.

“This is probably the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced – the most terrifying thing I’ve been asked to do.”

I have to say, I don’t envy any of the cast who’re featuring in the live episode. I think I’d be on Valium for weeks!

Would you cope with knowing you were being broadcast live to millions of people?
