Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams says of leaving the show, “My gut was telling me it was the right time to go”
As fans of Emmerdale will most likely know, Sian Reese-Williams has announced that she’s leaving the show and her role as Gennie Walker, and of course, it was also announced this week that her co-star Rik Makarem, who plays Gennie’s husband Nikhil, is also leaving.
We’ll have more on that in a moment, but first, during a press day at Emmerdale’s studios in Leeds last week, Sian told us, “I always take my contracts year by year, and I’ve really loved being here…
“But my gut was telling me it was time to move on, and I couldn’t really ignore that.
“For me, this is the perfect time to go to be honest because I’ve done everything that I wanted to do…
“Gennie has her baby, her mum’s happy with Bob [Tony Audenshaw] and of course, she’s got her Prince Charming now, which is all she ever really wanted.”
Which brings us back to the fact that Rik is also leaving, and he told ITV, “When making my decision to leave, on both artistic and personal levels, I listened very closely to my heart.
“I’m naturally ambitious; I believe in taking risks, as that’s how we truly learn about ourselves, how we grow, and with this integrity in mind, I’m completely inspired for the journey ahead.”
Aww I’m really going to miss Gennie and Nikhil! Are you?
For now, here’s a look at this week’s upcoming drama…
