Emmerdale: Trudie Goodwin had newbie nerves, and Dominic Brunt was disappointed!

by Lynn Connolly

Emmerdale newcomer Trudie Goodwin – who’s playing the role of Georgia Sharma in the soap – has revealed that despite having been an actress for decades, she was incredibly nervous about starting work on Emmerdale.

Also in Dales news today, Dominic Brunt, who of course plays vet Paddy Kirk, has revealed that he was disappointed that he and co-star Mark Charnock, who plays Paddy’s comedy sidekick mate Marlon Dingle, didn’t get to film their spin-off DVD somewhere exotic.

We’ll return to that in a moment, but first, Trudie – who is arguably best known for her role in The Bill as Sgt June Ackland – told The Sun, “It’s always a bit daunting joining a long-running show because everybody sort of knows what they are doing and you don’t.

“It’s a while since The Bill, and a very different part, [but] everybody made it very easy.

“It’s going to be good fun.”

We’ll get to see Trudie as Georgia next week, but in the meantime, click ‘Read more’ to see a reminder of her as Ackland in The Bill…

Back now to Dominic Brunt, who joked that he was disappointed to learn that the show’s spin-off DVD, Paddy and Marlon’s Big Night In, was to be filmed in Leeds.

He told the PA, “When we first found out they were doing it we knew they’d filmed in Australia before and they’d filmed in Venice and we though ‘Yes?! Where’s it going to be?’

“Leeds – that was a bit disappointing.”

Also speaking to the PA, Mark went on to reveal that he and Dominic had to perform a choreographed dance for a segment of the DVD, and of it, he said, “It was quite stressful…

“I didn’t enjoy it massively, but we got through it without having to wear tights.”

However, Dominic wasn’t averse to the dancing, and said, “I used to break-dance. About 30 years ago and three stone ago!”

Paddy and Marlon’s Big Night In goes on sale on November 14th.

But of course, the DVD isn’t the first time Dominic and Mark have taken on projects outside of Emmerdale together, and in fact they recently appeared on Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Here’s a clip from their appearance on the show…
