Emmerdale: Zoe Henry (Rhona Goskirk) isn’t fazed by Down’s Syndrome storyline
Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry has admitted that she is glad to be involved in a storyline about Down’s Syndrome children.
The 37 year old star, who has previously appeared in Coronation Street, plays Rhona Goskirk in the Yorkshire based ITV soap. The vet has had a tough year and recently broke Marlon Dingle’s heart as she chose to leave him for his best friend Paddy. Since the split, Rhonda discovered that she is pregnant to the gangly chef and was later was devastated by the Down’s diagnosis.
But the real life mum of two has no fear of the condition, having spent many years working as a care assistant with disabled people.
Zoe told The Mirror:
“Having a Down’s Syndrome child crosses everyone’s mind when they are pregnant. I chose not to have a test to find out with our first child, but with our second child we did – we wanted to be prepared.
“I would have continued the pregnancy, whatever the results. We were a strong couple and could have coped, but I understand Rhona’s struggle, it’s a very personal decision.”
“Over the years I worked with adults and children with Down’s Syndrome,” Zoe added. “It was great fun and I’m sure it will help with the filming.
“I’m not fazed by disability and I had so much fun. The children were mischievous, loving and enjoyed life.
“And that’s the way Emmerdale want to go with the story.”
