We reported a few days ago that Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson gave birth to her first child, a baby boy,on August 1, and today she has revealed his name, Freddie George James Shepherd!

The actress, who is currently on maternity leave from her role as Alicia Gallagher in the hit ITV soap, and her husband, James Shepherd, welcomed little Freddie on Wednesday weighing in at 6lb 5oz.

Speaking to Hello magazine on the day of his birth, Anderson said: “We have a beautiful baby boy born this morning and we are all doing really well.”

Discussing parenthood, she said: “The most important thing for both of us as parents will be making sure our child feels loved.

“We think it is important to be strict – not in a horrible way, but strict with ourselves, too, in that we don’t spoil our child.”

As well as adding that she hopes to return to Emmerdale in the near future, whilst her husband continues to work from home as a  financial services consultant.

Anderson added: “We also thought that, when we had a family, it’d be great to always have a parent at home.”
