Matt Smith has confirmed that he will be returning as the Doctor for the eighth season of Doctor Who, well… unless he’s lying through his teeth, that is!

This evening promises to be an exciting night for all Doctor Who fans out there, as the true identity of the Doctor is set to be unveiled – or so we think.

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Emmerdale studios to see first-hand how an episode is made, right through from the writing stage to the finished article…

And each of us journo types attending the day were given a mentor, who showed us how his/her job works, and let us not only shadow them, but also to do some part of their job!

In next week’s episodes of Emmerdale, prescription drug addicted vet Rhona Kirk (Zoe Henry) is set to suffer a collapse as she tries to withdraw from the assorted painkilling medication that she’s been taking for months now…

And it’s her horrified friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) who finds Rhona curled up, sweating and barely coherent as her addiction shows itself in a frightening manner.

Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) is of course currently in turmoil, given that Gary Windass (Mikey North) recently made a pass at her…

Which may not be remarkable or noteworthy ordinarily, but of course, Tina is carrying Gary and Izzy Armstrong’s (Cherylee Houston) baby, so to say things have become awkward would be something of an understatement.

And the situation isn’t being helped by the fact that not only does Tina’s former boyfriend Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) know about Gary’s faux pas, so does Izzy’s sister Katie (Georgia May Foote) who learned about it after her boyfriend Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) overheard Gary and Tina talking about the embarrassing incident. As fans of Emmerdale will know, angry teen Sean Spencer (Luke Roskell) nearly died last week after he electrocuted himself as he smashed up Brook Cottage, which was of course his family home until Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) ruthlessly booted the clan…

And despite the fact that Megan in fact helped to keep Sean alive until the emergency services arrived, she need not expect any thanks from Sean’s feisty mum Ali (Kelli Hollis) who in fact blames Megan for the whole thing!

As we saw last week, as Sean was being taken to hospital, Ali promised Megan, “This isn’t over…” and true to her word, in the episode that airs on Monday, we’ll see Ali confronting Megan over the near fatal incident, but to her surprise, Megan breaks down and reveals that Ali has what she’s always wanted; a family who love her. In next week’s episodes of Coronation Street, fed up bookie Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoigne) is more livid than ever at the antics of Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) who of course Peter’s girlfriend Carla (Alison King) insisted on installing at the betting shop in order to revive the ailing business…

The drama begins when Rob and his partner in crime/girlfriend Tracy Barlow, who is of course Peter’s step-sister, decide to indulge in a spot of afternoon delight at the bookies.

Fans of Coronation Street will no doubt know that stars Michael Le Vell – who plays the role of Kevin Webster – and Bill Roache, as well as former Corrie actor Andrew Lancel, are all currently battling to clear their names having been accused of a variety of sexual offences…

And it’s been reported today that a new allegation against a fourth cast member has rocked the show’s cast and crew.

Despite the series seven finale of doctor Who tonight being one of the most anticipated episode’s in the show’s history, fans are concerned that the BBC may be ready to pull the plug on the show again due to “dodgy storylines”, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

Fans of the hit BBC family sci-fi entertainment show will know how tonight’s episode, The Name of the Doctor, is set to reveal not only the true identity of the current Time Lord’s (Matt Smith) new companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman), but also possibly the greatest ever secret of the Doctor’s himself!

The BBC isn’t taking it easy with the Doctor Who teasers this week, with a brand new promo having been released ahead of tomorrow night’s season 7 finale.

In the promo video, Clara receives a very mysterious letter from Madame Vastra, which indicates that the Doctor may be in a spot of bother… and it seems serious!

With only one day left to go to the series 7 finale of Doctor Who, the BBC have released more pictures of what we can expect.

Guest starring Alex Kingston as River Song, Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra, Dan Starkey as Strax, and Catrin Stewart as Jenny, The Name of the Doctor will see Clara summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

Fans of Emmerdale will know actress Fiona Wade best for her role as Priya Sharma, who is of course currently embroiled in a love triangle in which her fiancé David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) is set to propose to her yet again in an upcoming episode, while being secretly in love with his former wife-of-convenience, Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson).

However, it would seem that Fiona’s real personal life is every bit as passionate as her character’s as it’s been revealed today that she’s had “a passionate fling” with a co-star who she refuses to name.

As fans of Coronation Street will know, Gloria Price (Sue Johnston) told her astounded family this week that she in fact has £80,000 sitting in her bank account, and that being the case, she could – and will – save the Rovers…

Her daughter Stella (Michelle Collins) was forced to put the burned out pub on the market after her insurance company refused to pay out for the fire damage after they learned that the arsonist had keys to the place.

Stella was of course devastated, and to make matter worse, builder Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies) threatened to sue her for the thousands he’d shelled out as he began the refurbishment of the iconic pub. Read more & comment »
