TNT is gearing up for the third season of Falling Skies which is set to premiere on the network next month.
A brand new promotional picture teasing the series’ return next month was unveiled this morning. Not only that, the network is planning on running marathons of seasons 1 and 2 to get viewers back into the swing of things.
What we know so far is that the season 3 premiere episode will begin seven months after the 2nd Mass arrived in Charleston.
Tom has been elected to political office, however, his hands are full as the resistance continues to battle the alien invaders. His decision to have the rebel skitters fight alongside humans creates tension and raises suspicions that someone may be leaking information to the enemy.
Hal struggles with his nightmares that seem real and Tom and Anne prepare to welcome their child.
Speaking to EW ahead of the premiere of the third season, executive producer Remi Aubuchon spilled the beans on some of the upcoming scenes.
In the second season, Ben revealed that the weapon the overlords had devised was not intended for humans. Aubuchon said that by destroying the skyward-facing weapon, the 2nd Mass paved the way for the new aliens to make their debut.
He said: “Well, it seems to be a big coincidence that they took down this huge weapon, and all of the sudden these guys landed. So I would say that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that there must be some kind of connection between the two of them.”
Speaking about the influx of aliens, he added: “One of the things that I hope the fans will see is that of course this is an alien that doesn’t look anything like the aliens we’ve been confronted with since the beginning of the series. And in fact, there’s a certain benign-ness. It’s uncertain as to whether or not he’s friendly or unfriendly, but the one thing that we can definitely determine is he kind of looks a little like us in a way.
“His eyes do not seem as shark eye-like as the overlords’ eyes did or even the skitters, who have a frightening look to them.”
Falling Skies returns to TNT on the 9th June.
