Put that box of Man-Sized tissues in the bin, guys, as it has been revealed that Brian Griffin WILL return to Family Guy later this month!! Yes, Yes and more Yes!
Entertainment Weekly has today reported that the beloved canine will pop up on the show later this month, and it’s looking like he will be back on a permanent basis.
For those of you who don’t know, firstly where have you been and secondly, Brian Griffin was killed off in an episode earlier this month. In the episode, the dog was run over by an out-of-control car and his injuries were that extensive, he passed away on the operating table.
Unfortunately, Stewie had dismantled his time machine that very day, so he couldn’t go back in time and stop the accident from happening.
Following on from the accident, the family went out and purchased a new dog, which is voiced by The Sopranos actor, Tony Sirico.
However, the was an outpour of anger from the viewers as Brian Griffin had been a part of the show since day one and the viewers thought it was cruel and unjust to kill him off after such a long time, as he really was one of the family.
A petition set up online even received over 120,000 signatures to reinstate Brian on the show.
Now, one thing that we are sure about is that this was planned all along as an episode with Maya Rudolph is in the works already for next fall as all episodes are planned well in advance of broadcast date.
We’re not quite sure how Brian will be brought back from the dead either, but we do know that he will return to the FOX comedy on December 15.
Speaking about the death of Brian, executive producer Steve Callaghan said that it was done “to shake things up”.
“It seemed more in the realm of a reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died. As much as we love Brian, as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet,” he told E! Online.
Unfortunately, FOX has declined to comment at this time.
So, are you all happy that Brian will be returning?
