Viewers of BBC’s Lark Rise To Candleford are campaigning to stop the TV channel axing the show.

More than 120 fans have joined a Facebook campaign page and many have emailed ITV, begging them to reconsider and commission a fifth series of the drama.

But BBC1 controller Danny Cohen said he wanted the costume drama, which starts former Ab Fab actress Julia Sawalha, to leave on a high.

He told The Sun:

“Lark Rise to Candleford has been a truly wonderful part of the BBC1 schedule and we are incredibly grateful to writer Bill Gallagher and the team. But we feel the time is right to make room for new dramas which we hope will be taken to the nation’s hearts in the same way.”
