Farrah Fawcett loses her battle with cancer

Screen icon Farrah Fawcett has lost her battle with cancer today. She was just 62 and had been fighting anal cancer for three years. She died shortly after 9:30am local time in a Santa Monica hospital.
The news of her death comes just days after she and long-term partner Ryan O’Neal announced their intention to marry. O’Neal recently told the US chat show host Barbara Walters that he and Farrah would wed as soon as she was well enough, but sadly, that was not to be.
“We will, as soon as she can say ‘yes’ – maybe she can just nod her head” he told Walters.
The couple have been together on and off since 1982 and have a son, Redmond, together. He is currently in prison serving a sentence for drug offenses.
Farrah was perhaps best known for her role as Jill Munroe in Charlie’s Angels which saw her catapulted to meteoric success both here and in the US in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. She was married to Hollywood star Lee Majors at the time but they split in 1979.
Farrah’s battle with her cancer was chronicled in the documentary ‘Farrah’s Story’ earlier this year.
