This Morning presenter, Fern Britton, has revealed that she decided to have her gastric band operation in order to reduce her cholesterol levels and avoid suffering a heart attack.

Fern told Slim At Home magazine: “I’ve always felt that I’d go on until I was at least 85 years old.

“But it was in the last few years my cholesterol crept up and it had always been normal. That was the point when I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s a very good warning sign.’ So I thought I’d be careful because I didn’t want to have a heart attack.”
