First poster of ‘Walking Dead’ season 3 features Michonne and The Governor – *SPOILERS*

AMC, the network behind The Walking Dead, has released the poster of the third season and instead of just showing survivor group leader, Rick, it now also features new characters Michonne and The Governor.

The poster is released following the preview of some stills to preview the much-anticipated new season and the show also plans to visit  San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 13 in Hall H. Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Norman Reedus and more are set to attend the panel, where fans can get the first look at an official sneak preview of season 3.

Speaking about Michonne, played by Danai Gurira, show runner Glen Mazzara tells aceshowbiz website:  “Just like in the comic books, she is a badass and she hates the walkers more than anything else,”

He goes on to explain how thethe sword-wielding heroine “treats them [zombies] with contempt” and that “she has a lot of trouble fitting into human society. She’s probably better off staying out there alone with the walkers.”

Moving on to The Governor, who has been cast as David Morrissey, Mazzara explains: “David is an incredibly talented actor with a lot of magnetism and we need somebody who can serve as the foundation, the pillar, for an entire storyline, an entire world of Woodbury. David has the strength to do that. I also think that David’s approach to the character was spot on. He understands that this is an interesting, complex, multilayered, dark figure, and he’s very interested in playing that.”

Discussing the future of the survivors for season 3, Mazzara commented: “The entire landscape has fallen to zombies.” He elaborates further, “The entire world has collapsed, the apocalypse has taken over, the zombies have taken over, there’s no safe place. And I think in the past our characters thought they could find some safe harbor, and now there’s just no good hiding place at all.”
