Forever will follow the story of Gruffudd’s character the New York City medical examiner Dr Henry Morgan. This is not your average crime serial drama however as Morgan does not just study the dead to solve cases – he does it to solve the mystery of his own immortality which he has been searching for 200 years to find the answer to.

With his considerable life experience, he impresses his partner Detective Jo Martinez played by ex Law and Order actress Alana de la Garza. Each week, a new case will reveal to viewers more about Henry’s colourful past and there’s only one character who knows his immortality secret – his best friend Abe played by Numb3rs actor Judd Hirsch.

There are other familar faces in the series with Lorraine Toussaint joining the cast as Lt. Joanna Reece – after the actress finished her stint as Vee in Orange Is The New Black season two. Meanwhile, Donnie Keshawarz and Bones Joel David Moore will play Det. Hanson and Lucas Wan respectively.

It’s the first time Ioan Gruffudd has been back on our screens in a major TV role since the cancellation of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Ringer back in 2012, where Gruffudd played Andrew Martin. In the meantime, the Welsh actor has been a busy guy with guest appearences on Castle and Glee.

If the main plot of the show hasn’t got you interested enough, ABC in their article on 5 reasons to watch the new show, revealed that everytime Henry dies he returns….naked!

While Henry will be assisting the NYPD with crimes, there’s also set to be flashbacks of his life over the last 200 years and we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Alongside the fact we’re suckers for anything periody. When we find out more about this exciting new show we will let you know.
