Based on a real case, this factually-based drama tells the unique and extraordinary story of how a middle class family faces the horror of child sex abuse within the home. Stephen is secretly abusing his daughter Sophie, and wife Liz informs the authorities. Stephen is convicted and imprisoned. On his release, he spends a year at a residential therapy clinic for sex offenders where he starts to respond to treatment. Eventually, the family decide to try again and Stephen returns home to live with his wife and the daughter he was convicted of abusing. Forgiven is based on in-depth interviews with the real family.
