Former Corrie star Tina O’Brien on staying in shape and a possible return to the show

by Lynn Connolly

Tina O’Brien, who of course played teenaged mum Sarah Louise Platt in Corrie, has been speaking to new! magazine about how she’s staying in shape and the possibility of a return to the cobbles.

During the interview, Tina also revealed that she has a new man in her life, personal trainer Adam Crofts, who she met last summer.

Tina was of course previously in a relationship with her Corrie co-star Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason Grimshaw. However, the couple split just a year after Tina gave birth to their daughter, Scarlett.

When asked, “How are things with Adam?” Tina replied, “Good. In fact, we just got back from our first holiday together to Fuerteventura. It was brilliant.

“He makes me very happy. I’m really lucky and I fancy the pants off him!”

And when asked if marriage might be on the cards, Tina said, “Yeah, maybe. That would be lovely…”

New! then asked Tina if she and Ryan were getting along nowadays, to which she replied, “Yes. Things are really good. He’s brilliant with Scarlett and she adores him.

“The time we had was right at that time, but people grow up and go in different directions.

Tina then moved onto discussing how she’s staying trim and toned, commenting, “I’m still using the 10 Minute Solution DVDs.

“They’re great for people who don¹t have time for a full workout.

“I lost 4lbs in a month and 11lbs in total since starting the DVDs, which isn’t bad.

“I’m still a size 8, but my stomach is flatter and my jeans fit me better. My love handles have definitely improved!”

And finally, when asked if she would go back to Corrie at some point, Tina said, “Apparently, the producers are going to ask me and Nikki Sanderson back. I read it in the paper like everyone else.

“It’s not something that’s been brought up. Never say never but I’m happy with the way things are right now.

“I couldn’t imagine being there for a long time, but maybe that’s because I can’t imagine myself anywhere for a long time at the moment.

“It’s all hypothetical. I genuinely haven’t been asked. I loved my time there and it would be lovely if they wanted me back.”

Well, we may not be seeing Tina on Corrie anytime soon, but we will see her in new BBC drama, Call The Midwife, which is about the lives, loves and work of midwives in the 1950s.
