Mount Pleasant and former Emmerdale actress, Sian Reeves, eyes up Corrie role!

Former Emmerdale actress Sian Reeves has said she could quite fancy a role on the cobbles of Coronation Street.

Reeves, who is currently starring in Sky Living’s Mount Pleasant, played stalker Sally Spode who set her sights on the village vicar, Ashley Thomas (John Middleton in the Dales, and was the person behind the fire that nearly cost Ashley’s wife, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) her life when she locked her in the church before setting fire to it back in 2009.

Reeves, who plays Bianca, the saucy neighbour referred to by other characters as “Skimpy Knickers in Mount Pleasant, has confessed that she would like the chance to star in the award-winning ITV soap, Coronation Street when she follows  her teenage daughter Bessie when she goes to university up north, according to The Press Association.

Sian revealed: “I would love to do Corrie. EastEnders would be good as well because it’s near home – although soon Bessie’s going to be off getting drunk at Leeds or Manchester University so maybe I can go and join her.

“You do work much harder in a soap, because the episode turnover is just horrific, but I’d never say no because something interesting might come up.

“It’s not suitable for every actor, soap stuff – you have to have a certain sort of memory for the quick intake of lines, and I don’t know how some of them do it. But then lovely Nigel Havers, he absolutely adores Corrie, because he loves doing things that quickly.”

Sian left Emmerdale two years ago, when her character Sally was finally outed as a nutter and committed to an asylum for her crimes against the Thomas’s, but isn’t ruling out a return!

She said: “I did really well out of Sally Spode. I had a lovely time up there with Charlotte Bellamy and John Middleton, who play Laurel and Ashley, and I’m still in touch with them.

“It was a gift of a role, and I have to thank [former Emmerdale producer] Mr Gavin Blythe who sadly died in 2010, which was just horrendous. He was the one who championed me, and I just thought he was so brave to bring a predator into the village. Sally’s still in a mental home, so I could actually come back.”
