Former Hollyoaks star John Pickard would love an EastEnders role!
John Pickard, who of course played the role of Dominic Reilly in Hollyoaks – and is the real life younger brother of cast member Nick Pickard – has revealed that he’d love to land a role in BBC soap EastEnders.
John – who’s also starred in sitcom 2point4 Children and Mile High – left the role of Dominic in 2010, having played the part for five year.
Speaking to Inside Soap about having left such a popular soap, John said, “You’ve got to move forward with your life…
“You wouldn’t go back to an ex-girlfriend would you?”
Well, that rather depends on who the ex-girlfriend is John. Were they alive, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton may disagree.
However, John added, “I wouldn’t object to a part in EastEnders though…
“I was in it years ago as a character called Kevin, who was Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney)’s pal, so that would be good fun to revisit.
“But I have to be honest, the thing I miss most about Hollyoaks is the money!”
Well, fair play to him, but at least he isn’t jobless right now, given he’s starring in an episode of Casualty this weekend.
But he added, “At the time [I left Hollyoaks] I was sad about going. But it was a blessing, to be honest.
“When you get to the point where you’re seeing the same scripts coming out just slightly rehashed for your character, you really know it’s time to move on.”
Do you miss seeing John in Hollyoaks? And if you were in charge of ‘Enders, and were casting him in a role, what would the role be?
In the meantime, here’s a reminder of John in 2point4 Children…
