Fox renews New Girl, Raising Hope and The Following
New Girl and The Following have been renewed by US television network Fox.
Bosses of the channel have also ordered brand new episodes of Raising Hope and The Mindy Project.
The second season of The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, will run for 15 episodes and is likely to return to Fox during the middle of next season.
On The Following, Fox’s chairman of entertainment, Kevin Reilly, said in a statement: “From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding.
“Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue on Fox for another season.”
New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, has proven a hit for the network and has brought in the highest audience numbers for a comedy prompting its return for a third series.
On all the recommissions, Kevin said: “We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television.
“These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the Fox comedy brand next season and beyond.”
It is also reported that negotiations are under way for a fifth season of musical show Glee.
