Former EastEnders actress, Zoe Lucker, cast in Waterloo Road

Former Eastenders actress, Zoe Lucker, has landed a new role in BBC’s Waterloo Road.

Lucker, who played Vanessa Gold, the volatile former fiancee of Max Branning (Jake Wood) in the award-winning BBC soap, is joining the cast as  Carol Barry, a prisoner’s wife with an over-flowing back catalogue of personal misery.


Whilst her husband is inside, Carol is left to raise her three children Barry – played by Carl Au of Jersey Boys, Dynasty – played by Abby Mavers from Willy Russell’s Our Day Out and Kacey – played by TV newcomer Brogan Ellis, alone.

The new family are currently filming their first scenes in Scotland, Lucker commented:

“Carol and her kids are going to ruffle plenty of feathers in Waterloo Road – you can’t trust them as far as you can throw them!

“They’re a family of great characters – but you just wouldn’t want the Barrys in your neighbourhood!”

This new move see’s Lucker reunited with Waterloo Road executive producer ,Cameron Roache, who she previously worked with in the hit drama series, Footballers Wives.

Roache said: “This time her character’s not about the glamour but keeping the family together.”

The new series of Waterloo Road starts is due to air this autumn.
