Freddie Starr forced to admit he did meet a girl who accused him of molesting her backstage at Jimmy Savile’s show

In the wake of allegations of child abuse against the late DJ and TV presenter Jimmy Savile, several women have claimed that other TV stars abused them either in the presences of Savile, or at the BBC headquarters where he of course worked.

The latest allegation of molestation has been made against comedian Freddie Starr, which was made by a woman who claims he “groped” her backstage on Savile’s show, Clunk-Click.

And according to The Sun, Starr – who appeared on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last year – attempted to take out a court “gagging” order to prevent the story from being made public, however he was unsuccessful and the High Court refused to grant the order.

When the allegation was first made against Starr, he denied ever having met the woman in question, Karin Ward, however, when videos surfaced which clearly showed him sitting next to the alleged victim – who was 14 at the time – he had to rescind that claim…

The paper adds, “Last night the veteran comic admitted days after losing a High Court bid to gag the media from reporting her allegation that he was also ‘mistaken’ when he claimed never to have been on one of the late DJ’s shows.”

Speaking of the allegation, Starr said, “You can’t prove, I can’t prove and she can’t prove it — therefore there’s no contest.

“Why don’t you go investigate her for a change. I’ve been persecuted here for something I haven’t done.

“It was almost 40 years ago. I’m sick of this story. I don’t care what she is saying. I’ve had enough.

“I was asked, ‘Did I ever do a Jimmy Savile?’ I said, ‘I can’t recall’ — it was 40 years ago.”

Meanwhile, Starr’s lawyer said, “Freddie vigorously denies the awful allegation made by Karin Ward, which despite this footage is still totally unsupported and uncorroborated by any other evidence.”

Karin, who’s now 54, was a pupil at Duncroft School for girls which it’s been claimed was the scene of several assaults on young girls by Savile.

Of Karin, Freddie said, “That school she went to was for girls who couldn’t behave themselves.

“I don’t remember meeting her. I want a police investigation.

“I want police to take me down the police station and I’m going to clear my name one way or another.”
Karin said of the comedian, “He called me a ‘titless wonder’ — words that I’ve carried with me ever since.”

She added, “I didn’t like him because he smelled like my stepfather and it frightened me.”

After the High Court refused Starr’s bid to gag Karin, he branded her “a nutter” and accused her of “picking my name out of a hat”.
