It’s an end of an era. Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders spoke to GMTV yesterday about retiring Britain’s most successful female comedy partnership.
Speaking to Entertainment Today’s Jenni Falconer, the comedy duo said they’re definitely calling it a day with their current farewell tour, Still Alive 2008.
“We’ve come to the end of the French and Saunders thing,” said Jennifer. “I think that there are so many other things that we want to do, and French and Saunders was getting in the way of it. It’s time to go.”
“It’s time for lots of new little comedy puppies to come along and do sketch shows,” added Dawn. “It’s good to bow out now while we still are funny. Otherwise we’ll get people saying ‘Please leave now.’”
The comic stars promised lots of fun from their show, “There’s a lot of topless work… there’s dolphins and pole-dancing.” said Dawn. “We’ve also reworked some old Ab Fab sketches and we do some dancing too,” said Jennifer.
