Michelle Fairley has revealed that she has a no-nudity clause in her Game Of Thrones contract, and that it was the producer’s idea!
Fairley, who plays Catelyn Stark in the hugely popular HBO fantasy drama which is renowned for its violent and sexual content and has already featured several cast members in naked scenes, explained the clause to Digital Spy at last night’s UK season 3 premier.
The actress joked:
“I got a no-nudity clause so I always get to keep my clothes on… The producers put it in, not me!”
As well as later adding that if she could play any other character in the it show, it would be Tyrion, played by Peter Dinklage, explaining:
“I’d like to play Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) because he gets lots of sex and my character doesn’t.”
Meanwhile, Fairley’s GOT co-star, Charles Dance, has revealed that he ends every scene with Dinklage by apologising to him on behalf of his character, whose comments and behaviour are often quite nasty.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor, who plays Tywin Lannister in the show, admitted that his character treated Tyrion “like s***, adding:
“I spend a lot of time with Peter Dinklage and he’s the most adorable man. After all those scenes, I apologise to him every time,” said Dance, speaking at the UK launch of season three.
“I have to treat him like s**t. You’ve only seen a little snippet of the awfulness in episode one.”
The actor then went on to say he thinks the secret to Game Of Thrones success was down to “great writing” and the “amount of money HBO are willing to spend”, explaining:
“We spend a lot of time as actors trying to make a silk purse out of a pig’s ear because not all scripts as are as good as Game of Thrones,” said Dance.
“You don’t have to waste time doing that on this show.”
Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the US on March 31 and to Sky Atlantic in the UK on April 1.
