Gareth Gates, Cerys Matthews & David Gest In Don’t Forget The Lyrics
Sky1 puts a seasonal spin on its popular entertainment series Don’t Forget the Lyrics, as eager celebrity guest take to the mic’ for the festive special, ALL-STAR DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS. As viewers eagerly await the return of the new series, host Shane Richie whets their appetites and puts three celebrities through their paces to separate the lyricists from the pretenders.
This special Christmas edition features singers Gareth Gates, Cerys Matthews and music mogul/reality star David Gest, who will take to the stage and sing alongside the live studio band to raise money for their chosen charity. The lyrics to familiar songs from different genres and decades are projected on screen – but when the band suddenly stops, the lyrics disappear and each ‘singer’ is on their own.
Gareth, Cerys and David will climb a cash prize ladder after each correct answer. Along the way, three back-ups can help them out. David gets a little help from vocal coach to the stars Zoe Tyler who joins as one of his back-up singers; he also makes a brave attempt to tackle the hit song The Way You Make Me Feel by ‘best friend’ Michael Jackson. Gareth gets a shock when faced with the choice of song by Girls Aloud or former rival Will Young and Shane coaxes Cerys back into the round when she walks off in protest at the song choice – Mistletoe & Wine or Shane Ward’s That’s My Goal. They must each sing nine tracks correctly before facing one final song with up to fifteen missing words – that’s all that stands in the way of the £250,000 jackpot.
Shane Richie said: I’m really pleased to be back (with the show) and these All-Star specials were absolutely brilliant. It was so much fun having the celebs in, not to mention getting them out of their comfort zones, at one point I thought Cery’s was going to walk she was that shocked by the song selection! But what a brilliant voice and person as you will see when you watch the show! They each made a lot of money for their chosen charities and had a ball doing it, what more could you ask for?
We all think we know the words to the world’s most popular songs, but when there’s £250,000 at stake, will the contestants keep on singing when the music stops? Or will they be at a loss for words? All will be revealed as they ‘Lock in” the lyrics.
It’s that simple: 10 songs, 10 missing lyrics and £250,000 providing you ALL STAR DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS.
Gareth Gates is supporting the Bobby Moore Foundation
Cerys Matthews is supporting Shelter (Wales)
David Gest is supporting The Variety Club
