Gavin & Stacey stars, Larry Lamb & Alison Steadman reunite for new comedy, Love and Marriage!

The hilarious parenting team from Gavin & Stacey, Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman, are to be reunited in a new ITV comedy, Love and Marriage!

Lamb and Steadman are best known for playing the over-bearing and over-protective parents of Gavin (Matthew Horne), Mick and Pam Shipman in the hit BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey.

Gavin & Stacey follows the long-distance relationship of Gavin from Billericay in Essex, England, and Stacey (Joanna Page) from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. The writers of the show, actors James Corden and Ruth Jones, also co-star as Gavin and Stacey’s friends Smithy and Nessa.

Infamous for the hilarious on-screen chemistry, Steadman and Lamb provided some of the show’s most entertaining moments helping the series become one of the biggest success stories of its time.

And now that chemistry is to be returned to our TV viewing as both have signed up for this new Endemol’s Tiger Aspect six-part series which will follow the Paradise family, who have to manage alone after mum Pauline (Steadman) walks out on them after retiring as a lollipop lady.

Love and Marriage, penned by Stewart Harcourt whose previous credits include Miss Marple and George Gently amongst others, has been described as a “warm-hearted drama” which will focus on the “highs and lows of family life”.

Steadman’s, who has also starred in the epic 90′s TV adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, characters husband has been cast as Duncan Preston, whilst Larry Lamb, who played villainous Archie Mitchell in EastEnders, takes on a supporting role along with Celia Imrie, ex-Coronation Street star Graeme Hawley and Extras star Ashley Jensen.

Tiger Aspect’s exec Rebecca de Souza said: “Stewart has created the most delightful, funny show. It asks all the big questions about love and marriage.”
