Emmerdale’s celebrated Dingle clan have a shock in store this spring when a surprise new addition crashes into the Dales, but is she all that she seems? Shadrach has had enough trouble over the years trying to cement a relationship with daughter Chastity, so how will he cope with the arrival of Genesis, the child he gave up for adoption?
Played by TV newcomer Sian Reese-Williams, Gennie Walker will debut in the ITV1 soap on April Fool’s Day and Shadrach certainly believes that he’s being taken for one when a shock road accident means Gennie misses their planned meeting. As she lies stricken in a hospital bed, it is unclear whether Gennie will ever get the chance to uncover her past and learn she’s a Dingle.
Sian, 26, has previously worked on stage productions of As You Like It at the Derby Playhouse and Be My Baby at the New Vic Theatre. In 2001 her work was recognised with the BBC London Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for her role in The Dreaming.
Sian Reese-Williams says “I’m thrilled to have been given this fantastic opportunity. Emmerdale is such an iconic programme and I can’t wait to take my place in the Dingle family.”
Anita Turner, Emmerdale Series Producer says “I’m delighted to welcome Sian to the show and we’ve got some exciting storylines planned. Chas for one is left reeling from the news that she has a long-lost sister. Genesis is not your typical Dingle and she’s in for a real culture shock when she meets her biological family.”
