Yesterday, Glee mastermind Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter that ALL the original Glee cast members have been invited to return for the special 100th episode, which is set to air next year.
Earlier today we reported that both Mark Salling who played the role of Puck and Amber Riley who played Mercedes had already agreed to return, in little less than 24 hours. However, two more cast members have joined the ranks this afternoon, with more set to follow.
Announcing the news on Twitter yesterday, Mr Murphy wrote: “ALL The Glee Originals received invites today to be in our 100th episode! More to follow”.
Following on from that, he tweeted that both Salling and Riley were “IN” to do the 100th episode. Meanwhile, this afternoon he added both Heather Morris who played Brittany and Harry Schum Jr as Mike to the list.
He tweeted: “Harry is IN! More to follow…” along with “Heather is IN for Glee 100th!”
The 100th episode will feature the cast members performing 10 of the show’s most popular hits. Murphy handed the reins over to the fans of the show to select the 10 most popular songs. In total, 30 songs from the past five years were shortlisted and it was up to the Gleeks out there to vote for the tracks they most wanted to see be remixed and re-performed on the show.
The list featured some tracks that have been massive for the show, especially ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ which put Glee on the map when the show first premiered. The likes of Bad Romance, Born This Way, Defying Gravity, Roar and Take A Bow were included. Original track ‘Loser Like Me’ also featured on the list.
Murphy also announced via Twitter yesterday that over 1.8 million votes had been cast from Glee fanatics in the time the vote was open. Unfortunately, the vote closed yesterday.
Many of the shows cast will be approaching graduation next year and the 100th episode will see those cast members reminiscing about their time at McKinley High and what their most memorable moments have been.
Glee continues tomorrow evening on FOX at 9/8c.
