Everyone’s favourite teacher, Matthew Morrison has revealed that he would love to see his Glee character, Will Schuester, marry long term love interest Emma Pillsbury on the hit US musical show.
Morrison has played Schuester since Glee began back in 2009, and from the very first episodes there has been a romantic back story between him and the guidance counsellor Emma (Jayma Mays), who suffers from mysophobia (an obsessive fear of germs and contamination), despite Will being married, and Emma almost marrying football coach Ken Tanaka (Patrick Gallagher) in series one.
In series two, Emma and her dentist boyfriend Carl Howell (John Stamos) marry in Las Vegas, but the wedding is later annulled as it was unconsummated.
And at the beginning of the third season, Emma and Will move in together, and become engaged shortly after New Year’s, and now Matthew Morrison, who plays the too-cool-for-school Spanish teacher, says he hopes this time they really make a go of it, and even wants them to have kids!
Speaking to the Sun newspaper, Morrison said: “Jayma [Mays], who plays Emma, we talk about it quite a lot, and there’s been so much build-up over the past four years of us getting married and I hope that happens.
“I hope we do see a wedding for us on the show and maybe kids.”
The fourth series of Glee is set to air on UK screens in January, and according to Morrison is quite a different show:
“I call this season Glee 2.0, because it’s a complete departure from what we’ve been doing.
“A lot of the kids have graduated and so we follow them to New York and then there’s a new crop of kids at the high school so it’s great, a lot of new faces.
“We get out of the halls of McKinley High School and it’s really nice to get to New York.
“And my character in particular, for the past three years he’s been trying to get this national championship, you know this elusive thing and he finally got it and now he’s kinda like, ‘Now, what do I do?’ He’s kind of in a rut I guess this year.”
Glee is renowned for its high-end celebrity cameos, but when asked who his ideal duet would be with, he commented:
“It would have to be between Adele and Bruno Mars, they are like my top two that I would love to work with.”
Of course, he has already had quite a few memorable duets on the show, and on stage, and one of his favourites was with our very own X Factor phenomenon, Leona Lewis:
“I did a duet with Leona Lewis at the O2 a couple of years back, she’s great, I mean what a talent, that voice is just an angel.”
