Glee season 4 spoilers: Matthew Morrison confirms that some cast members will not be back
There was uproar last year, when Glee sources claimed that three of the show’s main stars – Kurt, Rachel and Finn – would not be back for the fourth season of the hit musical show.
At the time it was reported that there was to be a spin off series, which would follow the much loved characters to New York, where Kurt and Rach would be following their dreams of Broadway fame and Kurt would be tagging along for the ride.
Bosses later backtracked on their plans and Glee executive producer Brad Falchuk announced that the three fan favourites were safe…for now.
However it seems the same cannot be said for some of the other cast members as speaking at the ‘White House Correspondents’ Dinner’ last night, leading man Matthew Morrison revealed that the future of some other stars was definitely in doubt.
When asked who would be back and who wouldn’t for season four, the actor – best known as Spanish teacher and Glee club leader Will Schuester – admitted:
“I have no idea. The show is back next season but we don’t even know which cast members will actually be back.”
“I think I’ll be back, but some of the kids – we’re trying to figure out what we’re going to do with that.”
Matt revealed that producers and directors are working closely with the cast on what will turn out to be some of their final filming sessions and teased that some of their departure storylines will be great for fans of the show to become involved with.
“They are treating it all very, very sensitively, because for a lot of these kids it will be their last show. I am so, so happy that they’re treating it with such sensitivity and making the stories so great to end the show for some of these people.”
Glee will return for it’s fourth series in September 2012. A number of the McKinley High seniors will be graduating at the end of season three and those who have announced that they will definitely be back for the next run include Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Finn (Cory Monteith) and Santana (Naya Rivera).
Michele described Murphy’s plans for retaining the graduated seniors on the show as “groundbreaking” and “revolutionary for television”
