Get your best hats ready Glee fans; there is a wedding on the horizon!
With the finale of series four of the hit US teen musical drama getting ever closer, it has been reported that two major stars will get engaged during the festivities!
E! Online reports that Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) will pop the question to his long term boyfriend, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) during the final episode of series four, and that it is expected that Kurt says yes, setting the scene for a wedding themed series five when the show returns.
According to the report we are also about to get two new cast members when Blaine meets a long-term lesbian couple, played by Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter, who will offer to be his mentors and teach him about what it was like being in a homosexual relationship when they were younger.
The introduction of these new characters are said to be inspired by the recent equal rights cases at the Supreme Court, and the fact that Baxter and Duke have been cast in the fifth series would support the theory that Kurt accepts Blaine’s proposal.
Blaine Anderson was first introduced as an openly gay student at Dalton Academy and a member of The Warblers, a Sectionals and Regionals rival of New Directions, but after receiving a warm reception he was made a main cast member in series three, when he began a relationship with Kurt.
During series four the couple’s relationship was strained due to Kurt’s Vogue internship, which resulted in Blaine cheating on him. After confessing to Kurt of his infidelity, Kurt ended their relationship and severed all ties, but after some serious consideration decided to try and rebuild what they had during “Thanksgiving” which worked and the reunited couple spent a happy Christmas together in New York City later that year.
