Glee star Naya Rivera who plays Santana Lopez in hit TV show Glee has just released her debut single ‘Sorry’ and has spoken in an interview that it’s a dream come true.
The star who began her career in acting in 1991 has appeared on various shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Baywatch and 8 Simple Rules but is probably best known for her role in Glee.
Naya spoke with Rolling Stone magazine and spoke about how overwhelmed she is at all the opportunities she has been granted in her life.
She also discussed her solo material and asked if it felt any different to recording for Glee. The star said:
“I’ve been waiting for this day ever since I was a little girl. It’s always been my dream to release my own music. I love writing, and I wrote this song, so to see something that I’ve been wanting to do forever come true is amazing. Seeing my solo stuff on iTunes right now is blowing my mind.”
She admitted: “This is my baby. This is something that I did for me and I really fought hard to have people believe in me and believe in the song, so it definitely feels different.”
Naya Rivera released the lyric video for ‘Sorry’ which features quite a bit of nudity.
Speaking with Rolling Stone magazine she spoke about how she wasn’t concerned about alienating her younger fans but where she wants to go with this will always remain ‘tasteful’:
“No, because if I do anything that could be considered boundary pushing, I always want to do it in a tasteful way. Also, at the end of the day, on Glee we’re not trying to fool anybody.”
“[Laughs] Everybody knows that most of the guys are thirty and the girls are twenty-six or twenty-seven, so I think we can get away with doing more adult content.”
