‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress Katherine Heigl and her husband, Josh Kelley, have adopted their first child.

RadarOnline.com has reported that the couple are adopting a 10-month-old girl from Korea named Naleig

In an interview airing on today’s ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’, Heigl says the child’s name is a combination of her mother and sister’s names, Nancy and Leigh.

“She was actually born the day before me in November which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realised just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life,” she says.

Of the adoption process, Heigl says: “She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”

“It’s [adoption] been a big part of my life and my family,” the 30-year-old actress tells host DeGeneres. “My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the Seventies and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do.”
