Greys Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl, has pulled out of this years Emmy’s race as she claimed that her diminished role on the show did not justify a nomination.

“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,” she told the LA Times.

Nominations for the annual TV awards will be revealed on 17 July.

“In an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation, I withdrew my name from contention,” Heigl, 29, said in a statement.

“In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.”
