Grey’s Anatomy creator, Shonda Rhimes, has hinted that in the next series of the show he is hoping to get Derek and Meredith together…….finally!
“My goal is to get Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] and Derek [Patrick Dempsey] together for good and let them try to figure out what it is to be in a relationship in the future,” she told EW.com.
“That is something that time off [during the writers' strike] really gave me perspective on - whether or not we could actually do it, how we could do it, and that it would be amazing to watch how that works.”
Shonda admitted that she had already discussed the storyline with the stars and had dinner with Patrick where “we talked about all of this”.
She added: “As actors, they’re very invested in Derek and Meredith. Ellen and I are getting together Monday.”
Grey’s Anatomy returns for its final five episodes post writers’ strike in the US on April 24.
