In the next edition of Gypsy Brides US, which airs on Discovery Real Time at 10pm this Wednesday, we’ll meet controversial gypsy brides Ana and Linda, who will reveal not only what it’s like to be gay in the traveller community, but also how their families have reacted to their wedding.
As we’ll see, Ana is 25 and Linda is 48, but the age gap issue is just one of the problems they encounter in their small town community in Ohio.
In today’s Sun, Ana has revealed why she and Linda chose to highlight their relationship by taking part in the programme.
However, she began by saying, “In our culture, [being lesbian] doesn’t even happen. It would be like a black guy in the Ku Klux Klan.”
She went on to reveal that she has no idea if her mum, who disapproves of the relationship, will attend their wedding or not, but of her partner Linda, she said, “Linda is amazing, everything I have always wanted…
“I want people to take us seriously. I think people think our relationship is a big joke, but it’s not.
“For the majority, I’m not a true Romany because of who I love. My mother doesn’t know if she is coming and normally that means she is not. It really hurts a lot.
“She makes me feel like she is really ashamed of me.”
However, undeterred, Ana cracks on with her wedding day plans, and like most of her friends, she hires dressmaker Sondra Celli to create “an electrifying white outfit” which is encrusted with 80,000 rhinestones and trimmed with 20 fox skins.
But the main thing about Ana’s dress is that it’s illuminated with over a hundred bulbs which will flash as she walks down the aisle, trailed by 150ft of wiring!
This is so going to be one to watch, and as mentioned, it airs on Wednesday night at 10pm on Discovery, so do not miss it!
