I can’t remember where I first heard Haim, it was more than likely on BBC Radio 1 but I do remember that the first song I heard of theirs was ‘Don’t Save Me’ and since then I was hooked.
Haim are sisters Este, Danielle and Alana from Los Angeles California and 2013 was an incredible year for them which featured various festival performances and their debut album was released.
‘Days Are Gone’, the debut album from Haim was first released in September 2013 and featured the hits ‘Falling’, ‘Forever’ and ‘Don’t Save Me’.
Talk has already begun though on their next project and have admitted that their second studio album is inspired by none other than Kanye West.
Speaking with Rolling Stones the group commented on the past year and of course their next record.
Alana said: “We’ve had the craziest year, and now we’re at the point where we’re ready for something new. We’re excited about it,”
She continued: “We’re always writing and figuring out new vibes and trying to get our inner Kanyes out,”
Este agreed and said: “We’re going to tap into our inner Kanye,”
Alana then went on to talk about Kanye West’s 2013 album ‘Yeezus’ and described it as a “masterpiece”.
She said: “I have yet to see Kanye not put out an amazing record – and people don’t understand how hard that is.”
“To make record after record and come out with something new and push the boundaries and have it succeed every single time is insane.
She continued: “If I could choose any brain to just chill in, for, like, 10 minutes, it’d be Kanye’s. I just want to see what goes on up there. Because he’s a genius.”
‘Days Are Gone’ was a hit when it was first released as it topped the Official Albums Chart in the UK and reached number six on the US Billboard 200.
