Hayden Panettiere has hit out at the culture of celebrity and extensive media coverage, which leads to people judging her in every aspect of her life.

The Heroes actress claims that most media reports about her are false and says that the public don’t know the real her.

“People think they know me because they see me on TV or in movies – but the public don’t really know me,” Panettiere revealed to Shout magazine.

“I’ve learned that no matter what you do, someone is always going to have a problem with it. At the end of the day, the only person you can please is yourself.”

She continued: “I don’t like the idea that someone can see me on screen and say, ‘Oh, I don’t like her’. You don’t know that. You’ve never hung out with me and you’ve never had a conversation with me, so you don’t know that you don’t like me!”

When asked about recent media gossip regarding her, Panettiere insisted: “They’re all rumours. Don’t believe any of it. None of it is true.”
