Hello Goodbye Comes To Sky One

hello_goodbye

Airports aren’t just about exhausting queues, enraging delays and the perils of lost luggage. They are the 24-hour backdrop to emotional reunions, and tear-tinged goodbyes, with the hustle and bustle of people on the move hiding a host of human stories. HELLO GOODBYE sees Kate Thornton meeting the everyday people whose heartache and joy is played out at the check-in desks and departure gates of the UK’s busiest airport.

HELLO GOODBYE puts a human face to a traditionally anonymous environment, briefly sharing the uplifting or turbulent personal dramas of the people who pass through the airport system. From the lovers being parted by thousands of miles, to the families desperate to be reunited, Kate meets a range of people as they experience some of the saddest, and happiest, moments of their lives.

Kate Thornton commented: “I’m thrilled to be a part of HELLO GOODBYE. It’s been a real privilege to be a part of some incredible human interest stories that never cease to amaze, impress and move me. It’s a show that shines a light on real people in some of their most telling, vulnerable, ecstatic and emotional moments that will hopefully have you crying into your hankies one moment and grinning like a fool the next.”

In this touching series Kate makes contact with people from all cultures and walks of life, teasing out the stories that are constantly unfolding at the airport. From the tear-jerking farewells to the ecstatic reunions and joyous homecomings, each story reveals a personal journey. Take Mike, who is making a heart wrenching trip to Australia. Having recently lost his wife, he is going to spend some time with his sister in an effort to start healing from his pain.

Sometimes it is just the simple pleasures that can’t help to melt your heart. From the best friends who haven’t seen each other in years, to the young woman excitedly waiting to greet her mum who has flown in from Turkey. In her own words, even now she is happily married and living in England, sometimes you just need a hug from your mum! A devastated young girl proves that the first goodbye is the hardest as she is about to be parted from her boyfriend for the first time.

Don’t miss HELLO GOODBYE, February 2009 on Sky1 and Sky1 HD.

  27. It’s the first time I comment here and I must say that you share genuine, and quality information for bloggers! Great job.
p.s. You have an awesome template for your blog. Where did you find it?

  28. JudgeJohnDeed says:

I echo many sentiments from fellow followers of Hello
Goodbye. I too wish they would put the artists of the songs
they play to accompany stories. I want to find out who the
artist was when first story was mentioned in the last
episode that was screened a couple of weeks ago. As for the
ladies who were meeting their friend who’s son had died, I
think that is Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis. Can
anyone also tell me what the James Blunt song was too. The
next episode is this Thursday, 19 March.

  29. Babs Gregory says:

I absolutely love ‘Hello Goodbye’. I think Kate does an excellent job of drawing information out of the people she speaks too. She is kind and compassionate and in no way patronising. I wish more attention had been drawn to this programme. I have told several people after watching the first episode and they caught episode two and loved it. This programme is absolutely fabulous.

  30. Kirsch says:

    Hi,
Me & my girlfriend were filmed in december, our friends watched our episode but we missed it. does anyone know if we can ch it online or anything? or if it will be repeated?
    Thanks.

  31. Michelle says:

Hi, i love the programme, i wondered if anyone knew what the
song was being played in tonights episode, it was after the
ladies son went on his lifelong dream trip, and the ladies
daughter returned from Bermuda, any help would be great, it
was a man singing the song, and it was a ballad, it ended
with him singing ‘i love you’ thanks to anyone who can help.

  32. Suw says:

the song was Redwings by the Guillemots, we like the music on the show too and wish they would make a soundtrack of music used in the programme

  33. Michelle says:

Thank you so so much! i do too, maybe if they have enough interest they may just do that, fingers crossed! and thank you again, Michelle x

  34. alex says:

There was a song playing on an episode I just watched on Sky2, where an Indian man was waiting for his wife to arrive from Mumbai after 2 months of not seeing her. It was right at the end of the episode. If anyone knows the song, please let me know. Thanks!
