Heroes Bosses Refused To Hire Irish Actors For Series Two
The most awful thing about series two of sci-fi TV show Heroes, is the terrible Irish accents. I have caught quite a lot of the series on youtube etc, and at the start of the second season, Peter Petrelli finds himself in County Cork, Ireland with a bunch of local criminals.
I may have been more aware of the accents, due to the fact that I myself am Irish, but they were dire and unconvincing and seriously amateurish for such a huge TV show that airs worldwide.
It seems now that the decision to hire American actors to play Irish men was a conscious decision made by the Heroes bosses, because they didn’t think the Irish actors sounded Irish enough.
Actor Adrian Pasdar - who plays politician Nathan Petrelli, revealed:
“The irony is we had American guys playing the Irish guys in those episodes because the Irish actors who auditioned for the roles didn’t sound Irish enough.
“So the portrayal of the guys from Cork, I have to admit, was very interesting. So I don’t know how much of it worked and how much of it didn’t”.
I can tell you Adrian, none of it worked!

I wasn’t aware of that, couse I’m brazilian, but this is really bad. The same thing happend in Lost, in the end of third season. Those guys in the ice were suppose to be brazilians guys, but aren’t. The’re americans actors, tryin to speak portuguese, and they accent was that bad.

You are so right, not one bit of it worked! The worst Oirish accent since Darby O’Gill. They make Tom Cruise’s in Far and Away look brilliant.
And lets not even get started on the American cars in Cork and the American security guards firing off their guns like Dirty Harry. Even the Guards (Police) don’t carry guns here. Research please!
